Sweet & Shaker Candy Christmas Cards

The holiday season is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a set of bright, cheerful, and interactive shaker cards? For these four handmade creations, I’ve showcased the Candy Christmas Collection by Stamperia for Spellbinders, featuring a delightful mix of gingerbread-themed dies. Each card highlights different dies, including the Gingerbread Train Etched Dies, Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Die, Gingerbread House Etched Die, and Gingerbread Delivery Etched Dies. To add a playful sparkle, I transformed the backgrounds into shaker pouches with sequins and dimension, paired with a crisp white frame from the Fresh Picked Labels & Tag Etched Dies.

Let’s dive into the details of each card and see how these sweet holiday designs came together.

Card One: Up, Up & Away

“Sending Love” Hot Air Balloon Card

Creating the Background

I started with a vibrant teal cardstock panel and embossed it using the Argyle Socks Embossing Folder to create subtle texture. The panel was then wrapped with clear plastic, forming a shaker pouch filled with sparkling sequins for a festive, interactive effect.

Building the Hot Air Balloon

Using the Gingerbread Delivery Etched Dies, I die-cut all the pieces for the hot air balloon and the hanging present. I used a mix of warm browns, whites, and berry tones to create a cozy holiday palette. The gift at the base of the balloon was decorated with glitter cardstock for added shimmer.

Adding Sentiments & Accents

The “Sending Love” banner was die-cut using the Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Die and popped up on foam tape to give dimension. I added fluffy die-cut clouds to balance the composition and enhance the dreamy, floating effect.

Finishing Touches

To make the focal point pop, I framed the scene using a crisp white label frame from the Fresh Picked Labels & Tag Etched Dies. The balloon appears to be soaring high in a sparkly winter sky — a perfect card to send heartfelt wishes this season.

Card Two: Holiday Express

“Happy Holidays” Gingerbread Train Card

Crafting the Shaker Base

For this card, I again started with teal embossed cardstock, wrapping it in plastic to create a shaker pouch. I used a mix of glitter sequins to bring festive sparkle and movement to the background.

Building the Gingerbread Train

The adorable train from the Gingerbread Train Etched Dies became the star of this card. I die-cut each piece using a playful mix of red, white, kraft, and candy-striped cardstock to mimic a sweet holiday treat. The peppermint wheels and candy-cane chimneys added a whimsical touch.

Incorporating the Sentiment

I used the “Happy Holidays” banner from the Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Die and placed it beneath the train, adhering it with foam tape to create dimension and balance in the design.

Final Embellishments

The crisp white frame from the Fresh Picked Labels & Tag Etched Dies beautifully ties everything together, making the candy train look like it’s chugging along a magical winter wonderland.

Card Three: Flying into the Holidays

“Happy Holidays” Gingerbread Plane Card

Creating the Scene

Like the other cards, the base panel was embossed using the Argyle Socks Embossing Folder and converted into a shaker pouch with sequins to give a snowy, playful feel.

Building the Plane

The Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Die provided the adorable little aircraft, die-cut in soft cream tones with berry accents for the propeller and details. A few puffy clouds added around the plane created depth and movement in the design.

Adding the Sentiment Banner

The “Happy Holidays” banner trails behind the plane, giving the card a whimsical storytelling element as if it’s spreading holiday cheer across the sky. I mounted it using foam tape for an elevated, dimensional look.

Framing the Card

A clean white frame from the Fresh Picked Labels & Tag Etched Dies surrounds the playful scene, ensuring the sparkly sequins and vibrant elements stay neatly contained while standing out beautifully.

Card Four: Gingerbread Cottage Magic

“Sweet Christmas” Gingerbread House Card

Background and Shaker Elements

The teal cardstock base was embossed and transformed into a shaker pouch with sequins for a snowy, magical vibe. The contrast of the teal backdrop with warm gingerbread tones gives this card a cozy holiday charm.

Assembling the Gingerbread House

Using the Gingerbread House Etched Die, I pieced together a charming cottage with kraft, white, and orange-toned cardstock. The snowy roof was cut from glitter white cardstock to create an icy, frosted finish. I added a border underneath the house using the Sweet Borders Etched Dies to ground the house.

Adding the Sentiment

The “Sweet Christmas” sentiment from the Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Die was added to a deep berry strip beneath the house, grounding the design while tying in warm tones from the cottage.

Final Details

The white frame from the Fresh Picked Labels & Tag Etched Dies completes the composition, giving the gingerbread house a perfect spotlight amid the shaker background.

Final Thoughts

These four shaker cards are a joyful celebration of the holidays, combining the playful charm of the Candy Christmas Collection with the sparkle of interactive shaker designs. Each card features its own unique story — from flying planes and candy trains to magical hot air balloons and cozy gingerbread cottages. Using foam tape and sequins adds depth, shine, and fun movement, making these creations truly stand out. Whether you’re sending them to friends, family, or keeping them as part of your festive décor, these cards are sure to spread holiday cheer.

Hugs,

Jyoti
