For today’s project, I had so much fun bringing a little party-ready penguin to life! Using the Fancy Party Penguin die from Poppystamps as the centerpiece, I created a cheerful birthday card that’s both playful and elegant.
Building the Card Layers
I started with a base of white cardstock and spayed with distressed oxide paint for a speckled look to give a subtle textured background. Then, I layered a piece of Anemone Grove patterned paper for a bit of visual interest. This pattern brought in those lovely blues and subtle floral accents that tie the whole design together.
Adding the Penguin and Embellishments
Next, I die-cut the adorable Fancy Party Penguin, dressing him up with a little blue party hat. I placed the penguin slightly off-center on the tag to give a bit of whimsy. The tag itself is cut from navy cardstock, and the little gift box, also from Poppystamps, uses light blue and for the ribbons the same patterned paper as the background for a cohesive look.
Finishing Touches with a Sentiment
For the sentiment, I used a “Happy Birthday” tab from the Happy Birthday Black Foil Tabs by Memory Box. This little black tab with gold foiling adds just the right touch of elegance and stands out beautifully against the layered elements.
And there you have it! A charming birthday card that combines playful elements with a polished finish. Feel free to tweak any part of this blog post, but hopefully this captures the spirit of your adorable Fancy Party Penguin creation!
Hugs,
Jyoti
