Sometimes the most beautiful embellishments deserve to be the star of the show. When I received these gorgeous dimensional acetate stickers from the Deer Santa Collection, I knew I wanted to let their vibrant colors shine. Instead of reaching for patterned paper, I challenged myself to create six different white-on-white backgrounds using a variety of techniques and products. The result is a collection of clean and elegant holiday cards, each with its own unique texture and personality while keeping the colorful stickers as the focal point.
Card 1 – Snowflake Background with Layered Poinsettias
For the first card, I created a soft, elegant background using a white snowflake die-cut panel layered over a white cardstock base. I used the Snowflake Background cover plate for this card. The subtle texture adds plenty of interest without competing with the Poinsettia Acetate Embellishments. I arranged the flowers in a cascading design to create fullness and movement. A simple sentiment finishes the card while allowing the beautiful florals to take center stage.
Card 2 – Embossed Leafy Background with Cardinals
The pair of bright red cardinals immediately became the stars of this design. To add texture while keeping everything clean, I used the Leavy Helix Embossing folder that adds delicate movement across the card. The subtle embossing gives just enough detail without distracting from the Festive Birds Acetate Embellishments. I arranged the cardinals at different heights to create balance and added a small sentiment beneath them for a simple, classic holiday design.
Card 3 – Soft Ink Blending with Hanging Ornaments
This card combines clean design with a touch of color. I lightly blended Tumbled Glass Distressed Oxide ink behind the hanging Ornament Acetate Embellishments to create the look of a glowing winter sky. Thin gold line strings keep the ornaments looking suspended from the top of the card while the rest of the background remains bright white. The gentle ink blending draws the eye toward the ornaments without overpowering their intricate details.
Card 4 – White Plank Panel with Christmas Trees
For this design, I paired the dimensional Christmas Trees Acetate Embellishments with a white panel featuring subtle vertical texture. I scored some lines on the panel using scoring board and then cut thin strips of white to add planks between the score lines. The clean background allows the decorated trees to stand out beautifully while adding a bit of architectural interest. By varying the placement of the trees, the card feels balanced and festive without needing additional embellishments.
Card 5 – Subtle Betterpress Impression with Floating Ornament
This playful design uses the colorful Epoxy Ebmellishments to create the feeling of ornaments floating across the card. I scattered them diagonally from one corner to the opposite side, creating movement and visual interest. A light impression of the Petite Criss Cross betterpress plate background adds texture while keeping the design fresh and airy. This card shows how simple placement can create a striking composition.
Card 6 – Debossed Evergreen Background with Betterpress Plate
For the final card, I chose a beautifully debossed Night And Day Pine Betterpress Plate that adds rich texture while remaining completely white. The detailed branches create the perfect backdrop for the dimensional Christmas Trees Acetate Embellishments, giving the scene a cozy winter feel. Since both the background and cardstock are white, the colorful trees become the clear focal point. A simple sentiment completes the design without overwhelming the layout.
Bonus Project – Mini Gift Card Envelopes
As a fun bonus, I created a set of adorable mini envelopes using the Letters to Santa collection. Each envelope features a different festive pattern inspired by vintage holiday postcards, complete with charming postage stamp details and classic Christmas colors. They’re perfectly sized to hold a gift card, cash, or a small handwritten note, making them a thoughtful addition to any holiday gift.
Creating white-on-white backgrounds is one of my favorite ways to showcase colorful embellishments. Each card uses a different techique- die cutting, embossing, debossing, ink blending, tone-on-tone subtle impression, or thoughtful arrangement to add interest while keeping the focus exactly where it belongs. These dimensional acetate stickers are beautiful enough to do most of the work, and the clean white backgrounds let every detail shine.
I hope these six ideas inspire you to look at your favorite embellishments in a new way. Sometimes, all you need is a little texture, a clean white background, and a beautiful focal element to create a card that’s both elegant and eye-catching.
