There’s something so fun about combining patterned papers with adorable die cuts, and the new Country Pickup die from the Poppystamps Holiday Cheer collection was the perfect starting point for this cheerful travel-inspired card. I kept the design clean with plenty of white space while adding just enough colorful details to create a playful scrapbook feel.
Patterned Paper Accent
Instead of covering the entire card front, I used two narrow strips of coordinating patterned papers along the left side. The floral print and soft plaid add color and interest without overwhelming the design, while the white background keeps everything fresh and modern.
The Focal Point
The deep burgundy Country Pickup takes center stage on the card, carrying the adorable little penguin peeking happily from the truck bed. I love how the rich color of the truck contrasts beautifully with the clean white card base and ties in perfectly with the coordinating envelope.
Scrapbook-Style Sentiment
For the sentiment, I created three colorful word strips—Life Is a Beautiful Journey—using small cardstock pieces in red, kraft, and blue. This layered scrapbook-inspired look adds a fun, modern touch while reinforcing the travel theme of the card.
Finishing Touches
To finish the design, I added a few black enamel drops, a tiny purple heart embellishment, and clear gems near the truck mirrors for a bit of sparkle. These simple details complete the card without taking away from the clean layout, making the pickup and penguin the stars of the design.
