House-Mouse Cards for Every Season | Spellbinders Holiday Dreams Collection

There is something about House-Mouse images that always makes me smile! The tiny characters, their expressions, and all the little details make them so much fun to color. For today’s projects, I created five cards featuring House-Mouse Designs from Spellbinders, including the new Holiday Dreams Collection.

I wanted each card to have its own personality, so instead of keeping all five designs the same, I paired my colored images with different patterned papers, cardstock colors, layers, and layouts. The result is a fun mix of Christmas, Thanksgiving, fall, and cozy holiday cards.

May All Your Holiday Dreams Come True

For my first card, I used the House-Mouse Holiday Dreams Cling Rubber Stamp Set

This little mouse tucked under the blanket immediately made me think of a quiet winter night. I colored the image in soft earthy browns with a beautiful muted green blanket and carried those colors into the rest of the card.

I die-cut the stamped panel into a large stitched rectangle and layered it over a subtle cream-and-green patterned paper. A narrow olive-green mat around the patterned paper ties everything back to the blanket. I love how the soft colors keep this card feeling peaceful and cozy without using traditional Christmas reds.

The sentiment, “May all your holiday dreams come true,” finishes the scene perfectly.

Happy Thanksgiving

My second card takes us straight into fall with the House-Mouse Sweet as Pumpkin Pie Cling Rubber Stamp Set

I colored the adorable pie image with warm golden yellows and soft browns, keeping the little mice fairly neutral so that the pie could really stand out.

For the background, I chose a cheerful yellow polka-dot patterned paper. Along one side, I layered deep purple and olive-green cardstock strips, adding stitched and scalloped details for extra interest. I especially like the unexpected combination of yellow, olive and purple, it gives this Thanksgiving card a fresh look while still feeling very autumnal.

A simple “Happy Thanksgiving” sentiment strip at the top was all this card needed.

Peace and Joy to You This Christmas

The third card features the House-Mouse Sending Peace Cling Rubber Stamp Set .

This image is such a sweet little Christmas scene! I colored the bird in beautiful icy blues with a soft warm chest, while the tiny mouse was colored in warm browns. The olive branch adds just a touch of green.

Because the image already has so much movement, I kept the card design fairly simple. I die-cut the image with a stitched rectangle and layered it over a soft blue patterned-paper panel. A deeper blue cardstock mat and matching envelope bring out those gorgeous blue tones in the bird.

I placed the “Peace and Joy to you this Christmas” sentiment toward the upper corner so it becomes part of the scene without competing with the image.

Sweet Holiday Wishes

Next is probably one of the most playful images in this group. I used the House-Mouse Sweet Twist Cling Rubber Stamp Set. This four-piece set includes the mouse-and-candy-cane image along with three holiday sentiments, including “Sweet Holiday Wishes.”

For this card I decided to move away from traditional Christmas colors. I colored the stocking in a rich teal and used deep berry pink for the berries and candy cane. I love this combination!

The image panel is layered over a dark patterned-paper mat, which gives it just enough definition against the pale blue snowflake background. I also added another subtle patterned-paper layer underneath to create a little more depth.

The long “Sweet Holiday Wishes” sentiment strip extends beyond the image panel and gives the card a fun asymmetrical finish. The bright pink envelope is the perfect match for those berries.

Candy Corn Kisses

For my final card, I used the House-Mouse Halloween Dragon Cling Rubber Stamp Set for this adorable fall scene.

I wanted this one to feel more like a colorful autumn card than a dark Halloween card. I colored the little dragon in rich green and added bright orange to the pumpkin and candy corn. Those colors became the starting point for the entire card.

I mixed several patterned papers here—a small floral print, a dark floral and an orange geometric print—while using green cardstock to visually connect everything. The stamped image is mounted on a green mat with rounded corners, helping it stand apart from the busier background.

The “Candy Corn Kisses” sentiment stretches across the lower portion of the card and completes this playful fall design.

A Little Pattern Paper Makes a Big Difference

One thing I especially enjoyed about making these cards was finding patterned papers to complement each colored image. House-Mouse stamps have so much wonderful detail that they don’t need complicated techniques around them. A few coordinating paper layers can turn the stamped image into a finished card while still allowing the coloring to remain the focal point.

I also tried to pull at least one color from each stamped image into the cardstock or patterned paper surrounding it. That small detail helps all the layers feel intentional, even when mixing several different patterns.

I hope these cards inspire you to pull out your House-Mouse stamps, do a little coloring, and dig through your patterned-paper stash. These sweet little characters are such fun to bring to life, and I love how completely different each card can look simply by changing the colors, papers and layout.

Hugs,

Jyoti
