Creating the Buzzing Bee

I started by cutting the bee pieces from crisp white card-stock. To bring our little pollinator to life, I employed the soft hues of Wild Honey and Walnut Stain Distressed Oxide Inks. The wings, body, and top layer were carefully colored, creating a vibrant yet harmonious palette. I used Walnut Stain and Black Soot for the little pieces that imitates the stripes of the bee’s body.

Stitching the Story

With a dark yellow DMC thread, I embarked on the stitching journey, following the marked lines to accentuate the bee’s charming details. The rhythmic stitching process added both texture and a handmade touch to our buzzing friend, making it a unique focal point on the card.

Background Bliss

For the backdrop, I continued the color story by stenciling patches with Wild Honey and Walnut Stain Distressed Oxide Inks. A playful touch was introduced through the ink smooshing technique, resulting in artful splotches that contributed to the background’s distressed charm. A stitched rectangle die framed the background, leaving a subtle white border after matting with black, creating a visually appealing contrast.

Believe in Yourself

Adding a touch of inspiration, I stamped the sentiment “Believe in Yourself” along the bottom right of the background. This empowering message complements the thematic elements of our buzzing creation, encouraging positivity and self-belief.

After everything was ready to turned into a card, I assembled the bee and added it in the center of the card along with the inked and matted background. The wings are added with glue to the inked background and then the body was added with foam tape for dimension. For an extra embellishment I chose some jewels from my stash that was the same color as the thread and added it to the centers of the embroidered flowers.
