There’s something so calming about nature-inspired designs, and for this card, I wanted to keep everything soft, delicate, and centered around a sweet little bird. This project was created for the Poppystamps May challenge, and I leaned into gentle florals and subtle textures to bring the theme to life.
Building the Background
I started with a patterned paper from the Nutmeg Forest 6×6 paper pack. The soft, neutral tones create the perfect base without overpowering the focal elements. To add interest, I used the Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background die and created a torn edge effect. This small detail gives the card a slightly rustic, organic feel that ties beautifully with the nature theme.
Creating the Focal Area
For the center, I used the oval design from the same die to anchor my focal elements. The delicate pinpoint details add just enough texture while keeping the look clean. This area naturally draws the eye inward and gives the bird a nice place to rest.
Adding the Bird and Florals
The star of the card is the Nordic Nestled Bird, which I layered using soft, earthy tones with a pop of muted teal for contrast. I paired it with florals from the Lovely Floral Bundle, placing them around the oval to frame the bird. The combination feels light and balanced, almost like a little scene from nature.
Finishing with a Sentiment
To complete the card, I added the “Thank You” sentiment from the Thank You Tender Script Dies. I kept it simple and elegant so it wouldn’t compete with the focal elements. The script style adds just the right touch of softness and ties everything together.
This card is a great example of how a few well-chosen elements can create a peaceful, nature-inspired design. The textures, soft colors, and simple composition make it perfect for so many occasions, especially when you want something heartfelt yet understated.
