A Soft Nordic Holiday Hug
This card came together as a clean, elegant holiday design with a cozy Nordic feel, simple layers, soft color contrast, and just enough sparkle to make it feel special. I wanted the holly to be the star of the card, framed in a way that felt polished but not heavy.
Building the Holly Background
I started by creating a background filled holly sprigs die-cut with the Nordic Holly Sprig die, which is such a beautiful and versatile set. The leaves were die-cut from a soft teal cardstock, keeping the palette fresh and modern instead of traditional Christmas green. For the holly berries, I chose a warm pink that instantly softens the overall look and adds a gentle pop of color.
Adding Subtle Sparkle
To bring in some sparkle without overwhelming the design, on the main focal image, I die-cut the top layer of the holly elements from silver glitter cardstock from the Festive Glitter Pack. This subtle shimmer catches the light beautifully and adds just the right amount of holiday magic while still keeping the card refined.
Framing the Focal Panel
For the focal area, I layered Scalloped Pinpoint Frames, using pink cardstock for the outer scalloped frame and white for the inner panel. The details in the frames add texture and interest while keeping the design clean and structured. This framed area helps draw the eye directly to the sentiment and holly sprigs.
Mixing Script and Sentiment Strips
The sentiment is a combination of two favorites. The word “Hugs” was die-cut using the Hugs Moonlight Script, adding a soft, flowing script that feels warm and personal. I layered it slightly over the holly stems for a cohesive look. To ground the design, I added a sentiment strip from the Modest Banner Greetings set, which balances the script perfectly and gives the card a finished, intentional feel.
I love how this card feels both festive and versatile. The color palette makes it perfect for winter beyond just Christmas, and the sentiment works beautifully for thinking-of-you, encouragement, or sending a little love during the colder months.
This is one of those designs that looks detailed but is actually quite simple to put together—perfect when you want something elegant without a lot of extra steps.
