Fall is my favorite season to craft, and this project perfectly captures the cozy warmth of autumn. For this project , I created three dimensional embellishments using a mix of dies and textures, then arranged them on a fall pattern paper base to explore possible scrapbook page ideas. The goal was to blend intricate details with a simple composition while highlighting the rich colors and textures of the season.
Creating the Embellishments
The star of these embellishments is the Changing Trees Etched Dies. I created a watercolor piece using some pigments and lots of water splotches to create texture to die-cut the trees. I tried to capture the emotion with rich, earthy tones—warm oranges, yellows, and greens reminiscent of falling leaves. Each tree tells its own little autumn story, giving the overall layout a dynamic, dimensional feel.
Adding Labels and Sentiments
To bring a storytelling element into the design, I used the Documenting Labels Etched Dies and Autumn Alpha Etched Dies. These dies allowed me to create custom word labels like “Fall” and “Autumn,” which I tucked into the embellishments. The crisp labels balance the organic flow of the trees and leaves, grounding the design visually while hinting at themes and memories the scrapbook page could hold.
Background Texture and Details
To complement the embellishments, I ran pieces of cardstock through the Autumn Serenade 3D Embossing Folder. The embossed leaf patterns add subtle dimension without overwhelming the focal points. I scattered sequins to create soft movement across the layout. The contrast between smooth cardstock, embossed textures, and raised embellishments makes the entire piece feel tactile and inviting.
Designing the Layout
Once the embellishments were complete, I loosely arranged them on a soft fall pattern paper base featuring rich autumnal shades. The vertical arrangement creates a balanced flow, while the trees and accents guide the eye naturally down the page. Although this is a possible scrapbook layout, these embellishments are versatile enough to be used on cards, journal covers, or home décor projects.
This project beautifully showcases how layering die-cut elements, textures, and vibrant inks can bring seasonal charm to your crafts. The Changing Trees, Autumn Alpha, Documenting Labels Dies, and Autumn Serenade 3D Embossing Folder work together seamlessly to create embellishments that are as versatile as they are stunning. Whether you’re designing scrapbook layouts, greeting cards, or mixed-media pieces, these elements open up endless creative possibilities.

Jyoti
