Shaped Card with Floral Burst Background
There is something so warm and inviting about a cozy cup of cocoa, and this shaped card captures that feeling perfectly. For this card, I combined the beautiful Nordic Cozy Cocoa die with the intricate Nordic Floral Burst Background to create a unique shaped card that feels delicate, layered, and full of texture. The soft blues and yellows paired with the silver glitter details give this card a charming Nordic-inspired look.
Creating the Shaped Card Base
To begin, I die cut the Nordic Floral Burst Background. I used white for the intricate floral layer which is my background and yellow for the solid shadow layer. The solid shadow layer became the actual card base. I die cut another shadow layer with white scored a top half inch edge which created a hinge for the card base.
Making the Cozy Cocoa Cup
For the focal point, I used the Nordic Cozy Cocoa die set. I die cut the cup pieces using two shades of blue along with yellow cardstock from the Sunrise Solid Core Cardstock Pack and Lagoon Solid Core Cardstock Pack from Memory Box. The layered pieces give the cup a colorful and cozy look, perfect for the theme of this card.
Adding the Glitter Circle
To help the focal image stand out, I die cut a circle from silver glitter cardstock from the Festive Glitter Pack. I glued this circle directly to the center of the card and then added the cocoa cup on top using foam tape for extra dimension.
Finishing with the Sentiment
To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment on light blue cardstock using black ink. The sentiment is from the Sentimental Banners stamp set from Poppystamps, and I used the coordinating dies to cut out the banner neatly. The banner was then added to the card with foam tape to complete the design.
This shaped card was so much fun to create, and I love how the Nordic Floral Burst Background creates such a beautiful base for a shaped card. The layered die cuts, glitter detail, and dimensional elements all come together to create a cozy and elegant card that would be perfect for sending a warm note to someone special.
Nordic Cozy Cocoa Card with Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background
Since I already had all my supplies out from creating my shaped card, I decided to make another card using the same Nordic Cozy Cocoa die set, but this time with a completely different layout and background. This card is layered, and has a clean geometric look thanks to the beautiful pierced background.
Creating the Background
For the background, I used the Diamond Oval Pinpoint Die to create a beautifully detailed pierced panel. I love how this die adds texture without adding bulk, and the diamond pattern gives the card a nice geometric design while still keeping the focus on the center elements. I mounted this panel on a card base using liquid glue.
Making the Tag Focal Area
For the focal area, I used one of the dies from the Scalloped Pinpoint Tags set. The delicate scalloped and pierced detail on the tag works perfectly with the diamond pierced background, tying the whole design together. The tag also helps frame the cocoa cup and gives the card a layered focal area.
Assembling the Cocoa Cup
I used the Nordic Cozy Cocoa dies again and die cut the cup using yellow and blue cardstock to match the color theme of the card. I added a glitter layer to the bottom portion of the cup for some sparkle and dimension. The cup was assembled and then added on top of the tag using foam tape.
Adding the Sentiment and Embellishments
To finish the card, I added a small banner sentiment that says “Sending Love,” which fits perfectly with the cozy theme of the cocoa cup. I also added a few enamel dots around the focal area to add small pops of color and complete the design.
This card came together quickly since I already had the supplies out, and it shows how you can create multiple cards with the same die set just by changing the background and layout. The pierced background, layered tag, and dimensional cocoa cup create a clean but detailed card that would be perfect for sending a warm and cozy note to someone special.
