The holiday season is all about cheer, sparkle, and playful details, and today I’m excited to share a card that brings all of that together. Using some of the newest products from Poppystamps, I created this cheerful design featuring adorable little mice and a sparkling sentiment that perfectly captures the joy of the season.
Crafting the Sparkling Background
To set the stage, I began with the Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background Craft Die. I ran a panel of light blue cardstock through my die-cutting machine to achieve the elegant pierced design. Then I adhered glitter cardstock behind it so the glitter would show through the die cut design. This subtle texture creates depth and interest while keeping the focus on the festive elements layered on top. The diamond pattern also adds a sophisticated touch, giving the card a quilted feel.
Building the “JOY” Sentiment
The centerpiece of my card is the word “JOY,” cut with the Nordic Layered Joy Craft Die. I used a deep burgundy cardstock for the letters, which contrasts beautifully with the soft blue background. For the bottom of the letters I layered in glittery cardstock from the Glitzy Glitter 6×6 Pack by Memory Box, adding sparkle and dimension. The mix of solid and glitter finishes makes the sentiment pop while giving it a festive flair.
Adding the Sweet Nordic Mice
No holiday scene is complete without a little whimsy! The Nordic Tiny Mouse Craft Die was perfect for this. I die-cut the mice from white cardstock and assembled their cozy little sweaters in burgundy to coordinate with the sentiment. The only touch of marker coloring was done with a COPIC pink to color the inside of their ears. Their soft expressions add warmth and charm, making the card playful and heartwarming.
Bringing It All Together
After assembling the letters and positioning one mouse peeking from the “o” and two around the sentiment, I adhered everything onto the background panel. The glitter cardstock accents on the “JOY” were balanced by the cozy textures of the mice’s outfits, creating a delightful mix of sparkle and softness. To finish, I mounted the panel onto a card base and paired it with a bold red envelope for that final festive touch.
This card truly embodies the holiday spirit—playful, cozy, and sparkling all at once. The new Poppystamps release makes it easy to combine elegance with whimsy, and I can’t wait to create more with these amazing dies.
