There’s something so heartwarming about combining winter elements with a birthday theme. Today’s card features the sweetest snowman nestled inside layered Nordic details, creating a cozy yet festive look. I love how the rich, warm tones from the patterned papers make this winter card feel cheerful rather than chilly. The mix of texture, layering, and delicate die-cut details brings everything together beautifully.
Creating the Layered Background
I started by dividing the card front into two sections, using patterned paper from the Nutmeg Forest 6×6 pack on the top and a warm coral cardstock from the Sunrise 6×6 pack on the bottom. The tree pattern sets a soft Nordic winter mood, while the solid base grounds the design and keeps it clean. To soften the seam between the two panels, I added the Nordic Delicate Border die cut from white cardstock, which adds subtle texture and creates a beautiful ledge for the sentiment.
Building the Nordic Heart Frame
For the focal point, I die-cut the Nordic Heart Pattern Rings from a soft neutral shade that complements the warm tones in the background. The intricate heart cutouts add delicate detail without overpowering the design, and the circular shape naturally draws the eye to the center.
Assembling the Bundled Snowman
The adorable snowman from the Nordic Bundled Snowman die set is the star of this card. I used bright white cardstock for the body and deep burgundy tones for the hat, scarf, and mittens to coordinate with the patterned paper. The layered elements in this die set create built-in dimension, and I added foam adhesive behind the snowman to give him extra lift and presence inside the heart frame. I slightly ink blended the bottom left side of the snowman with light blue ink to give it a little dimension.
Adding the Sentiment and Finishing Touches
To finish the card, I placed a tab from the Happy Birthday Foil Sentiment Tabs across the border strip for a polished and elegant look. The foiled lettering adds a subtle shine that pairs beautifully with the warm color palette. A few gold embellishments scattered across the card bring everything together and add just the right amount of festive sparkle.
