The magic of the holiday season shines brightest when it’s captured in cheerful colors and playful designs, and that’s exactly what I had in mind with these three Christmas cards. I used dies from the Wonderland Collection by Spellbinders, including Cocoa Wonderland, Snow Notes, and Yuletide Ride. Staying true to my style, I leaned into a vibrant color palette featuring pinks, purples, blues, and greens-keeping each card unique while maintaining a cohesive design across the trio. These cards were so fun to make and would be perfect as a coordinated gift set or festive display.
Card 1: Cocoa Wonderland Santa Mug
Die Set: Cocoa Wonderland
This card brings the jolly spirit of Santa Claus into a whimsical mug design! I started by die-cutting all the elements from bold cardstock shades-white for the whipped beard, pink for the face, and a rich blue for the mug base. I accented the mug’s rim with bright pink and purple to create a cozy holiday feel. Two fir trees and a pink swirl topped with a striped ornament gave the entire scene a decorative flair, almost like a hot cocoa cup ready for Christmas.
Background and Layout
To let the vibrant mug pop, I used a diagonal navy-striped patterned paper as the backdrop and added a pink candy stripe border on the left side for balance. This pattern not only matched my color scheme but added subtle texture. All the elements were adhered with foam tape for dimension, giving the mug and its cheerful details a standout presence.
Greetings and Finishing Touches
To ground the design and complete the festive greeting, I chose a black and gold foiled sentiment that reads “Season’s Greetings.” This elegant touch contrasted beautifully with the bright colors and playful theme, elevating the overall look.
A Warm and Whimsical Feel
This card captures all the coziness of the holidays-Santa, hot cocoa, and festive ornaments-in a fun and creative way. It’s one of those cards that will definitely make someone smile the moment they pull it from the envelope.
Card 2: Yuletide Ride
Die Set: Yuletide Ride
What’s more charming than a car filled with holiday cheer? For this design, I used the adorable little car die as the base and went with a blush pink for the body and black for the tires and bumper. I loaded the top with stacked gift boxes in rich pinks and purples, tied with golden bows, along with a tree decorated with a tiny garland and star. A letter to Santa and a stocking added extra personality to the stack.
Creating the Scene
To give the background some interest and depth, I blended soft blue and golden yellow inks on white cardstock to mimic a snowy sky and a cozy path. I then added a scallop panel die-cut to frame the scene and mounted everything on a striped navy background for consistency with the other cards.
Sentiment Placement
At the bottom, I added a “I’ll be home for Christmas” black and gold foiled sentiment. It tucks in neatly below the car and ties the entire scene together, both visually and thematically.
Playful with a Touch of Elegance
This card is a celebration of holiday journeys-whether it’s visiting family or carrying joyful memories home. The whimsical elements and soft blending in the background balance the bold shapes perfectly.
Card 3: Snow Notes
Die Set: Snow Notes
This card is a trio of joyful snowmen singing their snowy hearts out! I die-cut the snowmen in crisp white with pink cheeks, orange carrot noses, and black coal buttons. Each snowman wears a scarf in festive red tones—one in a ribbed knit texture and others in coordinating styles. Their stances are slightly tilted for a fun, animated feel.
Background Blending and Placement
To create the setting, I ink-blended a golden tone on a strip of cardstock and added at the bottom of the navy striped background to resemble warm winter lights on snow. Then I adhered the three snowmen in a staggered line to add rhythm and movement to the scene. Foam tape helped give the snowman extra dimension, making the design more dynamic.
Adding the Banner and Sentiment
For the sentiment, I layered two elements-a pink banner that says “Fa La La La La” and a black and gold foiled sentiment reading “Merry Christmas.” These pieces added contrast and pulled all the design elements together while reinforcing the musical, joyful theme.
Choral Charm
This card feels like a caroling scene straight out of a winter wonderland storybook. It’s full of energy and happiness, and I think it would delight anyone who receives it during the holiday season.
A Coordinated Card Set Full of Cheer
Using the same navy-striped background, pink envelopes, and a vibrant holiday color palette helped unify these three designs into a visually cohesive set. The Wonderland Collection by Spellbinders made it easy to mix and match dies while keeping the creativity flowing. Whether you’re looking to send joy, warmth, or whimsy, these cards capture it all with a bold and bright twist!
Let me know which card was your favorite! 💖

I looove all but the first is my favorite. Will you share the brand/where purchased for the navy striped background paper? Many thanks!
Hi Debra,
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. This paper was from one of the paper packs from Michaels. But you can create stripe pattern by using stamps stencils and inks or even drawing strips over a color cardstock.
