You’re Always in My Heart – A Special Card Honoring Sharon Klima

Creating handmade cards often carries personal meaning, but this card holds a particularly special place in my heart. Featuring Sharon’s Scissors Etched Dies from Spellbinders, this project pays tribute to Sharon Klima, a beloved figure in the papercrafting community. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these dies supports the American Heart Association, making each creation part of a beautiful cause. I combined elegant colors, textured layers, and delicate florals to celebrate her memory and craft something truly heartfelt.

Crafting the Base and Background

For the base of the card, I selected a crisp white cardstock to provide a clean and bright foundation. Over this, I layered a soft peach panel embossed with the Monoline Stars Embossing Folder. The subtle geometric texture adds depth and sophistication without overpowering the focal point. This background sets the perfect stage for the warm autumn-inspired tones that define the rest of the card.

Assembling Sharon’s Scissors

The star of this design is, of course, the pair of delicate Sharon’s Scissors. I used a rich combination of deep burgundy and warm gold cardstock to bring them to life, carefully layering the pieces to highlight the die’s intricate details, including the charming heart-shaped finger grips. These scissors are more than a crafting tool; they symbolize Sharon’s passion and generosity within the creative community.

Adding Florals and Foliage

To soften the design and introduce a touch of nature, I used the Mini Blooms and Sprigs Die Set to create small layered flowers in shades of ivory, plum, and coral. These were complemented by leafy accents cut from the Seasonal Wreath Foliage Dies in muted gray tones. Arranging the florals near the bottom left corner balances the composition and adds a touch of warmth and dimension to the layout.

Finishing Touches with Sentiments and Details

For the sentiment, I used the included strips from the Sharon’s Scissors set, featuring the phrase “You’re Always in My Heart”. To elevate the design, I adhered the words on narrow white cardstock strips and popped them up with foam tape for dimension. Finally, a scattering of small silver gems adds just the right amount of sparkle, tying the whole piece together while keeping the focus on the heartfelt message.

Final Thoughts

This card was not only a joy to create but also a tribute to someone who touched countless lives in the crafting world. Every detail — from the scissors to the floral accents — was chosen to reflect love, creativity, and remembrance. It’s a gentle reminder of how our handmade creations can carry meaning far beyond paper and glue, honoring memories and celebrating the art of giving.
