Today I am sharing this blank card I made using the Sunshine Daisies digital stamp released today by Rachel Vass Designs. These are white Sunshine Daisies against black background. This stamp set is available to purchase at her Etsy store.
I wanted these daisies to be white but even white flowers have shadows and highlights and some shades of purples and yellows in them.
I sat down with some Prismacolor pencils and some Polychromos to color these beautiful flowers. I used warm grey for the shadow and some light yellow, purple, and green on the highlighted areas of the petals.
For the centers of the flowers I picked some yellows, oranges, and browns. I added some texture using the little strokes of Prismacolor pencils in the darker shade all over these center.
After I finished coloring with the pencil colors, I decided to go for really dark background. Started tracing the outlines with Micron Pen and also filling the small areas between the petals with the same pen. The rest of the background I colored with black Copic marker.
I cut the colored panel with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die and attached it to a white card-base made with Neenah Solar White Card-stock.
I hope this will inspire you to create projects like this with dark background.
Kokeshi dolls are Japanese wooden dolls for children that have been crafted for over 150 years. One characteristic of these dolls is their lack of arms or legs. These dolls come in many colors and are full of personality.
This release of Alex Syberia digital stamps has three kokeshi dolls and she has given them thier own names. Fumiko, Akemi and Mitsuki.
There is also a very special giveaway for you guys in this post. Don’t forget to check all the way down at the bottom of this post for more details!
Today I have two cards to share with you featuring these adorable dolls. As soon as I saw this new release I was super excited about these beautiful doll images.
Whenever I think of anything Japanese it automatically reminds me of Cherry blossoms, so I wanted my cards to have cherry blossoms in the background.
I colored Akemi using copics in red shades R24 R27 and R39, her hair in black copic marker, and some parts shaded with C9 and C7. Her skin is colored in E00 and E04.
For my first card, I took a panel of craft card-stock piece. I then cut it using two of the large Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die to cut a border. The inside piece of the panel I embossed using Spellbinders embossing folder.
I used Altenew Vintage Flowers Die to cut some smaller flowers in three sizes and the large stem out of white piece of scrap card-stock. I colored the flowers in using distressed oxide ink in color Barn Door. The stem is colored with distressed oxide in Deep Mahogany.
I attached the stem on the embossed piece with art glitter glue, then I arranged the flowers some added with liquid glue and some on foam tapes, creating a look of a blooming cherry blossom. I then added some Ink of Stella clear pen on the flowers and her dress. The middle of the flowers are embellished with white Nuvo drops.
Finally the panel was added on a top-folding A2 size card base made out of craft card-stock and the rectangle border adhered with foam tapes to create a frame around it.
I colored her using copic markers in shades of light blue, pink and red. Her hair is colored in black. Her glasses in light blue.
For the background of this card I took a panel of light pink cardstock blended Red Barn distressed oxide ink from the top fading towards the middle.
This card also would look lovely with cherry blossoms on the background. I decided on blue flowers for this one to match her kimono. I used the AltenewVintage Flower stem die to cut the stem and colored it with copic in E34. I used the flower die from Spellbinders Small die of the month for March 20 to cut some flowers. I colored the flowers with the same blue Copic I used on her dress.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope this inspires you.
